What is difference between boxing tape and athletic tape?

i have some 1" athletic tape that i use for finger sprains but im getting into boxing now. can i use these as boxing tape or are they different stuff?|||no difference. both are the same thing. the packaging is called "athletic tape", and thats what boxers, wrestlers, etc. use. doesent matter the size either, cuz you can cut it into strips for your knuckles, or leave the full size for the wrists. different brands of athletic tape sometimes come in a smooth surface or a gauzy-like surface. but it still doesnt matter, cuz they both function the same way. its just a matter of preference.
