How to get on the marine corps boxing team?

I am very good at boxing and will be enlisting in the marines. My goal is to make it to recon but I also want to box. What is the difference of being a boxer in the marines or just a normal infantry marine? And is it possible to be a marine force recon and a boxer?|||1. How to get on the Marine Corps Boxing team.

You send in your resume , listing your boxing accomplishments.

IE: how many State Golden Glove Championships, how you placed in the US National Championship, How you placed in the Olympic trials, What your ranking in Nationally in your weight class.

IE: you have to be more than good, you have to be great and proven you are great.

2. The Marine Corps boxing team, is just a temporary team, its not like its a full time position.

They will train for about a couple of weeks before the inter service boxing championships, that's it.

3. The Marines who train daily, are members of the Elite Athlete program, IE: those ranked in the top 8 in the world, at their sport. But even they must still do their day job and train after hours.|||You won't be in Recon and on the boxing team at the same time. If you are a good boxer go to the gym and talk to the NCOIC of the gym. The Marines have boxing teams and if you are good enough you can get on one and progress with your skills.

Leon Spinks was a Marine who held the amateur light heavyweight championship from 1974 to 1976. "Irish" Mickey Ward was a popular Marine welterweight. Ken Norton is one of a few famous champs who boxed as a Marine.

When you are on the boxing team that is your life. You aren't in infantry or recon or anything else.

The Marine Corps has many famous sports stars like Ted Williams who served two stints in the Corps, WWII and Korea.|||I disagree with one statement of yours J D, its your life, you aren't anything else.

EVERY Marine, is a rifleman first, a soldier first. Don't matter what your MOS is.
