Boxing compare to MMA, wrestling and any other
sports that has an opponent to beat...is much famous, much
entertaining and is in a good business relationship.
how come? why arent other sports mentioned at top did not
reach the level of want like boxing?|||Because, despite the said decline of boxing following, it is still the most watched and most profitable fighting sport as of now.
If there are still plenty of people who want to spend their money to watch PPV or live boxing matches, boxers will still be the highest paid fighting athletes.
Apparently, MMA is on the rise. But promoters are still not gutsy enough to pay millions of dollars even to the elite and marketable Cage fighters. Promoters have to be sure of their return of investment and a fighter salary of millions is too risky. It may end up as a financial loss for them.
Boxing had somewhat slowed this past decade because of fixed fights, corrupt promoters, lacked of drama (post-Tyson), and maybe because of competition from UFC. But now, I'm quite glad because of Pacquiao, Marquez, Cotto, Mosley, and even the villain in Mayweather, boxing has been going strong again.
MMA might catch up and maybe overtake boxing but only time can tell. Boxing has a legacy founded for more than a hundred years. Heroes and Legends were made since then. Boxing won't fade away that easily.|||Boxing is the most famous because of it's history and promotion.
MMA is very popular right now but isn't as "classy" as boxing. Despite its recent decline in popularity it still draws the rich and famous ringside for every championship fight.
Boxing also allows for athletes to have more longevity than MMA. The typical elite boxer can stay competitive for 15-20 years. MMA fighters careers are at risk every fight.
Wrestling, if you are talking WWE, is not a real sport. Grecco Roman wrestling is just not as exciting as sports that allow striking.|||ODDS OF BETTING.
Sports is a business; never mind the nonsense everyone else talks about. At the end of the day, it all boils down to what generates money.
The odds in MMA, should really be near 50/50 because of all the factors that can turn the fight around. Sure in boxing, as they say, one punch can change the fight. But really, there is more skill involved in boxing that can be calculated because of the specific set of rules, the training camps, and the specific styles of each fighter.
Because the odds of picking a winner in boxing is easier to study and stay true, boxing will always be a big sport.
This is why the mafia used to be heavily involved, this is why a lot of stars goes to see the fights, this is why Vegas will always be happy to host Boxing, this is why elite boxers get paid better. It's the best sport to gamble on!
Forget betting on a team in sports; counting every member on the team gives too much factors. One on one fighting gives you less factors to count.
Boxing has strict rules which slims down the factor of randomness, also called intangibles, that MMA is more prone to. Boxing will never die.
The SPORT that generates the most business on every level WILL ALWAYS get the MOST MONEY.
ELITE BOXERS ARE NEEDED IN SPORTS MORE THAN ANY OTHER TYPE OF FIGHTER.|||Because Boxing is scientific. no MMA participant would last more than one round with an experienced boxer. Who wants to see two bodies rolling on the floor in a scissor hold until one gets out of breath then the other wins, this is not a skill. While the MMA or kick boxer are thinking about using a leg or a fist the GOOD boxer would have knocked him out. Every time i watch a boxing match i am working out the style of each boxer and can look for the specific punch from each boxers opposing styles which may create the knockout or an opening for a knockout. Because each boxer is judging the other scientifically using timing, balance, power and intelligence to hit without being hit back.
Wrestling is pantomime, fake, why do you mention wrestling ???
Do your self a favour %26gt; watch Muhammad Ali and you will have your answer.|||MMA and most other exotic forms of fighting sports are a bit too unusual to attract the wide audience that boxing covers. It reminds me of the 70s when Evel Knievel and a hand-full of wannabes were jumping motorcycles and some people had the crazy notion that one day jumping a bike over long distances would be a legitimate sport.
Besides boxing, I've always enjoyed kickboxing and am surprised it has never grown into a really big attraction. In this country at least.|||Because boxing is real. Sure, there have been some fixed fights, but very few over the years. All wrestling matches are choreographed. Wrestling is not a sport. It's an exhibition. So is MMA. If MMA was real, we would have a lot more dead "fighters."
Boxing is the only legitimate "fighting" sport.
When I was a kid, I believed Antonino Rocca and Killer Kowalski were in real fights. I would argue and even fight with anyone who said otherwise. Then I learned the truth.
Wrestlers are great athletes, no question. But so are dancers.|||simple boxing and wrestilng are the closest figting style to what our insticts tell as what to do when were in a fight. for example if your in a fight what is the first thing you will do? you will strat t throw punches just like in boxing and when when your oponent is almost beat up you will do (or at least think to do) something massive to finish him just like in wrestling whenthey pick up chairs and hit the oponnent. And because these fighting styles are similar to our instinct they appeal to us.|||Cause even though it's been on a long downward slope, boxing is still the sweet science! Boxing has been around for 100 years and has a rich history.
Wrestling?? lol....that's not a sport. It's theatre.
MMA is a fad. Does anyone over the age of 25 care about it?|||I think MMA is presently more popular. I just think boxing has a longer history. If these other sports have the same kind of history, their champions will be as popular and they will attract the same type of money.|||Because everyone can see cage fighting at their local pub on a friday night, where as boxing takes skill.|||because the boxers represent their countries and race and they want to see what country or race is better! for example PAcman is loved in the filipines .|||coz boxing's been here for like billions of years...but i like mma, particularly ufc!
